PROPITIATION
Romans 3:23-25
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,
· 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
o Everyone sins, and falls short of God’ Glory. You may think your doing well compared to your friends, or enemies, but you’re not comparing yourself to the right person. The comparison isn’t between you and another man, but between you and God.
o When God comes on the scene, He sets the standard. His Light, we all fall short of.
· 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
o Justification is by Grace exclusively. Grace is unmerited, unearned, undeserved favor. The super cool thing, is that justification happens continually, so even this very moment, I am being justified and declared righteous. Many times in our sin, we feel as if we have forfeited the access and the freedom we once had with God, but that is not true. Justification is a continual action, a continual declaration of righteousness. Boo yaa!
· 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,
Justification comes at an incalculable cost!! Christ left heaven, came to dwell with us on earth, and die for us. Maybe that’s far fetched to you, that Christ could pay the price for our sins when he only hung on a cross for a several hours……but contrare moufrare, the bible says that He was slain before the foundation of the world (Rev. 13:8). Therefore, to a very mysterious degree, His punishment for our individual sins, as well as the world as a whole, was, and is, eternal!!!
